The design was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, although there are many interesting Lao deviations in the Patuxai architecture.

Going to Patuxai is worth the trip, although you may find yourself spending just as much time enjoying the surrounding parks and fountains, while watching Lao locals and other passersby drive by.
